HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN

Many people think there are several roads to God and that each religion represents “divine truth". But Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the father but through me.” (John 14:6) The following four points will show you the way to come know Jesus Christ personally.

1. Believe that you are a sinner.

The Bible says, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) Anything you do, think or feel that dishonors God is sin. Because God is holy, your sin brings you under His just judgment. (Hebrews 9:27) says; And it is appointed for men to die after this comes judgment.

2. Believe that you cannot save yourself.

Some people have tried to work for their salvation by doing good deeds. The Bible says (Ephesians 2: 8-9). “For by Grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest anyone should boast." Others have tried unsuccessfully to invent their own way of salvation, only to fail.

3. Believe the good news that God provided a Savior.

Because of God’s amazing love, He gave His Son to be punished in your place (John 3:16) Christ died for our sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. (1 Peter 3:18) Christ’s death on the cross satisfied the demands of God’s justice, thereby enabling Him to forgive and save those who place their faith in Him. God raised Jesus from the dead as proof that Christ paid your in full.

4. Believe in Jesus.

Believing in Jesus means repenting of sin and trusting in Him to save you. Repentance is not just feeling sorry for sin, but a turning away from sin in disgust. Trusting is a heart issue. “If thou shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart, that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10) "Yet to all who received Him. To those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12)

Are you willing to trust yourself to Jesus?

If yes, simply pray a prayer admitting your sinfulness, ask God to forgive your sins on the basis of Jesus’ death and resurrection, embrace Christ through faith, and you will be saved. “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13)

A Suggested Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I do not deserve eternal life. But, I believe You died and rose from the grave to purchase a place in heaven for me. Jesus, come into my heart, take control of my life, forgive my sins and save me. I am now placing my trust in You alone for my salvation and I accept your free gift of eternal life.”
